Remarks: This proves that not all grape- fruit drinks are alike. They may all be enjoyable on a summer afternoon at the pool but the lavender makes this the adult in the room full of poolside drinks. . . .

    PH factor: 9.0 Recipe Ingredients: Cocktail o 1 ½ ounces Finlandia vodka o 1 ounce Bombay Sapphire gin o ½ ounce Lillet Blanc o ½ ounce blue Curaçao Garnish o lemon peel Method: 1. Stir cocktail ingredients over ice in a mixing glass. 2. Serve up in a martini glass. 3. Express lemon peel over the drink and drop it in for garnish. Remarks: This has the ingredients of the Vesper cocktail but in different quantities. So it doesn’t demand your attention the way a Vesper does but you can get lost in the blueness of it all. . . .

    PH factor: 8.0 Recipe Ingredients: Cocktail o ½ ounce Bombay gin o ½ ounce Campari o ½ ounce Lillet Rouge o ½ ounce Plymouth Sloe Gin Garnish o orange twist Method: 1. Combine cocktail ingredients in an ice-filled Old Fashioned glass. 2. Stir gently to chill. 3. Garnish with orange twist. Remarks: Looks like a classic Negroni. Has many of the ingredients of the classic Negroni. But the bitterness of a classic Negroni is muted by the sloe gin. . . .

    PH factor: 9.0 Recipe Ingredients: Cocktail o 2 ounces Bombay Sapphire gin o ¼ ounce Bénédictine D.O.M. o ½ ounce Schladerer Edel-Kirsch liqueur o ¼ ounce fresh lime juice o 2 ounces pineapple juice o 1 dash Angostura bitters or to taste o 2 ounces Fever-Tree Premium Club Soda Garnish o Tillen Farms Merry Maraschino cherry o pineapple wedge Method: 1. Shake cocktail ingredients except soda over ice. 2. Strain into an ice-filled collins glass. 3. Top with club soda. 4. Garnish with pineapple and cherry. Remarks: There are a lot of Slings and Sling fanciers. This is a tip of the hat to the Must Include Pineapple” crowd. Enjoy. . . .

Shake cocktail ingredients except soda over ice. 2. Strain into an ice-filled collins glass. 3. Top with club soda. Remarks: Created in 1915 in Raffles Hotel Bar in Singapore by Ngiam Tong Boon. There are many camps of Sling Loyalists. Our apologies to the Must Include Pineapple sect, but we think the taste of the above is more interesting. . . .

    PH factor: 8.5 Recipe Ingredients: Cocktail o 2 ½ ounces Bombay gin or Finlandia vodka o ½ ounce Lillet Blanc o 1 dash Angostura bitters Garnish o lemon peel Method: 1. Shake cocktail ingredients over ice. 2. Serve up in a martini glass. 3. Garnish with lemon peel. Remarks: We’ve heard that the plus side of shaking has to do with the liberating of anti-oxidants (?). We say, if you want a cloudy martini shake it. If you don't want clouds in your cocktail "Stir it up, little darling." Are we clear? . . .

    PH factor: 8.0 Recipe Ingredients: Cocktail o ¼ ounce Pernod Absinthe Supérieure o 2 ounces Bombay Sapphire gin o ½ ounce Campari o 1 ½ ounces Lillet Rouge Garnish o orange twist Method: 1. Swirl absinthe to coat the inside of an Old Fashioned glass and discard the excess. 2. Combine remaining cocktail ingredients over ice in the prepared glass. 3. Garnish with orange twist. Remarks: Take a Negroni, add an anise flavored liqueur and note the change in the character of the Campari. If you use absinthe, as we do, we suggest you just coat the glass. as above. With another anise flavored liqueur you can be more generous. . . .

In light of that, wouldn't it be crazy not to have at least two-a-day. . . .

Swirl absinthe to coat the inside of a cocktail glass and discard excess. 2. Shake remaining cocktail ingredients over ice and strain into the prepared glass. 3. Garnish with orange slice. Remarks: A Harry McElhone pre-Viagra era cocktail that was inspired by the Serge Voronoff monkey to human testicle transplant procedure. A dubious surgery but a very legitimate cocktail. . . .

Stir cocktail ingredients over ice in a mixing glass. 2. Serve up in a cocktail glass. 3. Garnish with a cherry or lemon peel. Remarks: The classic Imperial Cocktail as mentioned in Daly’s Bartender’s Encyclopedia of1903 is similar to the Imperial Martini. . . .

    PH factor: 9.0 Recipe Ingredients: Cocktail o 2 ounces Bombay Sapphire gin o ½ ounce fresh lime juice o ¼ ounce Simple Syrup, see: Syrups etc. o 3 ounces Lindemans Strawberry lambic Garnish o rosemary sprig Method: 1. Shake cocktail ingredients except the lambic over ice. 2. Pour into in an ice-filled wine glass. 3. Top with lambic and stir gently. 4. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary. Remarks: The Flemish 75 is loosely based on the gin version of the classic French 75 cocktail. Both the gin and cognac versions of the French 75 are also included on the site. Try them all.
