Why so many recipes for syrups et cetera? Well, for two reasons. One: they are very easy to make and compared to buying them online or over the counter a lot less expensive. Two: they may allow you to take your cocktail experience down a different path. Like the Bronx Bard famously  said, "When you come to a fork in the road, take it."
